Shellback Challenge Coin

This coin is made for the pollywog that becomes a Trusty Shellback through Royal Order of King Neptune's Ancient Order of the Deep's initiation for crossing the equator.

It's a super nice addition to any challenge coin collection and a "must have" for a Shellback to have on hand at any watering hole and port across the world.

Don't be the Shellback who's buying the other sailors' a drink.

On the front of the coin it says, "Royal Order of King Neptune." Below these words is a nice graphic of King Neptune being pulled through the sea. On the left side is a helmsman's wheel with Amphitrite (Sea Goddess; consort of Poseidon, and a symbolic representation of the sea) written below it. In the middle, on the bottom is an image of a pollywog with the word Shellback below it. On the bottom right side an anchor with the name Davy Jones. On the bottom of the shellback coin is place to engrave the name of the Shellback.

On the backside of the coin you have the words,” Ancient Order of the Deep." Below these words is a nice graphic of the world and deep seas the sailor knows and respects as their home while sailing them. The world map is marked with a small emerald green shell to commemorate the Emerald Shellback (latitude 0 degrees, and longitude 0 degrees - Prime Meridian), and is marked with a small golden shell to commemorate the Golden Shellback (latitude 0 degrees, and 180 degrees longitude - International Date Line). Below the map are the words "Equator Crossing," with a compass in between the two words. On the left side of the world map is a blank shell made for engraving the date crossed the equator, and on the right side of the map is a blank shell to engrave the latitude/longitude of where the crossing was made. At the bottom of the Shellback coin is a blank to engrave the name of the vessel.

Engraved example coin has Captain Edward Teach also know as the infamous pirate Black Beard. It's a good bet that Black Beard crossed the equator as some point in his illustrious career, but the information on the reverse of the coin is not true. It was just for example purposes only. The date on the coin is the day he met his demise and marks his death on 17 November 17, not the day he became a Shellback. We used for example purposes only again Emerald Shellback information of 0 degrees latitude and 0 degrees longitude.
